"As Guangzhou has opened up green spaces for the public, I take my daughter to these green spaces every weekend, where we pitch tents on the lawn as our current pastime," said Ms. Chen, who works in Huangpu District, Guangzhou.

On New Year"s Day 2022, Guangzhou pioneered the introduction of 24 park green spaces designated for camping. This initiative has been well-received by both locals and tourists alike, who enjoy spending their holidays in the parks with their tents and delicious food. The lush greenery and warm sun make for a delightful experience for people of all ages.

Guangzhou has made a concentrated effort this year to share its park lawns and green spaces with its residents. So far, 112 green spaces, such as lawns and forest understories, have been opened up for public access, providing ecological benefits to up to 4.5 million citizens. The inhabitants of the city are now enjoying a wider range of environmental benefits.

Zhujiang Park, a green oasis nestled within Guangzhou"s CBD, bears the reputation of being the "Pearl of the South". In the autumn of 2021, the park was the first to delineate a lawn camping area for residents to enjoy, boasting a satisfaction rate of 97.6%. To cultivate a brand of unique lawn culture, the park has hosted a variety of cultural activities such as grassland concerts, camping festivals, floral exhibitions, red film (films centered on valiant efforts of Chinese military men) tours, and parent-child education. Since the opening of its lawns in April 2021, Zhujiang Park has welcomed roughly 180,000 visitors.

Baiyun Lake has opened up 100,000 square meters of green space for camping and an equivalent area for activities, satisfying the diverse leisure and entertainment needs of citizens and tourists. This has made it the park with the largest open green space and the most camping spots.

With the opening of the park"s lawns and green spaces, new challenges have emerged. How can Guangzhou manage overcrowding and prevent damage to the grass? Additionally, what measures can be taken to maintain environmental cleanliness and order?

Parks have adopted strategies tailored to local conditions, such as lawn rotation and visitor reservation systems, scientifically planning the opening areas and times by routine needs for lawn maintenance and visitor requirements, while providing a range of user-friendly services.

Parks such as Baiyun Lake Park, Yuntai Garden, Luhu Park, and Guangzhou Sculpture Park have implemented time and area-specific openings, tent pitching, and ground matting, enhanced scientific lawn maintenance by using grasses that can withstand trampling, and provided professional care such as aeration, pruning, fertilization, and pest control.

The Children"s Park has installed retractable sprinkler heads in its lawn irrigation system, ensuring children can run unimpeded on the lawns by scheduling watering during the night. Zhujiang Park has divided its large lawn into different sections, making it easier for visitors to choose their preferred camping spot. Ersha Island Park has improved signage in its green space, clearly demarcating areas for pitching tents and having picnics.

As urban development progresses, more public green spaces are being opened up and made accessible to all. This shift from restricted access to immersive experiences reflects the growing importance of ecological civilization. By providing opportunities for people to connect with nature, this new approach promotes a respectful, caring attitude towards the environment. It also enhances people"s overall well-being, enriching their lives with a sense of fulfillment and happiness.

广州已开放绿地草坪及林下空间112个，服务市民450万人次

“广州开放了绿地给大家，我周末一有时间就和女儿来玩。现在最喜欢的事就是带着孩子去草坪上搭帐篷。”在广州市黄埔区上班的陈女士说道。

2022年元旦，广州率先推出24个公园绿地帐篷区域，受到广大市民游客的热捧和赞誉。每逢节假日，众多市民偕老带幼，带着帐篷、美食，到公园享受阳光与绿色。

今年，广州加大公园绿地草坪开放共享力度，截至目前，共开放绿地草坪及林下空间112个，服务市民群众达450万人次，广州群众正在享受越来越多的生态福利。

广州珠江公园是藏在广州CBD里的绿野森林，享有“南国明珠”的美誉。2021年秋，公园率先划定草坪帐篷区供市民体验，游客满意度高达97.6%。公园努力打造特色草坪文化品牌，举办了草地音乐会、露营节、花艺展、红色电影巡礼、亲子教育等草坪文化活动。珠江公园自2021年4月开放草坪以来，累计接待游客约18万人次。

白云湖开放了十万平方米绿地为露营区，另有约十万平方米绿地为活动区，满足市民游客多元化的休闲娱乐需求，成为全市开放绿地面积最大、点位最多的公园。

随着公园绿地草坪的开放，问题也接踵而至：人太多，草被踩死怎么办？环境卫生怎么办？秩序维护怎么办？

草坪轮换制、游客预约制……各公园采用“因地制宜，一园一策”的方式科学规划草坪的开放区域和开放时间，结合草坪日常维护需要和游客游玩需求，做好各项人性化服务。

白云湖公园、云台花园、麓湖公园、雕塑公园等地分区分时开放草坪，搭建帐篷、铺设地垫，加强草坪的科学管养，选用耐踩踏的草种，做好打孔疏根、修剪施肥、喷药杀虫等专业护理。

儿童公园草坪喷淋系统使用升降式隐形喷头，定期夜间喷水，确保儿童在草坪上奔跑活动无障碍；珠江公园将大草坪划分成不同区块，便于预约游客选择对应的草坪搭帐篷；二沙岛公园绿地完善草坪开放区帐篷区的标识，标牌明确划分可搭帐篷区和可铺野餐垫等区域。

从“禁止入内”到“沉浸体验”，公共绿地的开放共享，体现了城市发展过程中不断强化的生态文明观念，是满足人民生活需要的新探索，让人民形成尊重自然、热爱自然、善待自然的良好氛围，提升了人民的生态福利，充实了人民的获得感、幸福感。
